Description

First posted: Sun, June 10, 2007 12:33 am I had fun making this one as I recall. It hearkens back to a simpler time, before all the congestion and confusion overran this planet. It is just nice to escape from the noise and fury of present times once in awhile. Does anyone remember the phrase, "Full Service Gas Station?"

Oh jez! That is a trip in the 'Way Back' machine, isn't it? WOW! I don't think most gas stations (around here anyway) even know how to read a tire gauge...much less check the radiator! Fantastic, classic nostalgic image.

Great image! Little before my time I think, but I have vague memories of stations where they'd at least fill the tank for ya.

somewhere, back amongst the cobwebs, behind a rusted Folgers coffee can, a broken kerosene lamp and other various sundries, I do recall "full service" stations ... they'd pump the gas, offer to check the oil, and they'd wash the windshield with a squeegee, then wipe it down with paper towels to remove the streaks ... and all for, what, $.39 a gallon? sigh those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end ...
