Description

I was in the yard watering, and I looked down and there he was... biting the head off a poor bee. I dropped the hose and ran into the house, passing my puzzled husband along the way. I quickly hollar as I go by, "A Preying Mantis is eating a bee and I left my camera inside. I gotta get it!" I was so lucky I got some good shots :) I am going to share three with you and this is the first.... Full Size is great! As you can see the Zinnia's are going to seed; I'm gonna have to pull them up this week :( The wind finally stopped blowing (for now) and it's hot! My previous upload, "~Looking Back~". Thank you for you views, comments and faves :) By the way, this is the first time I have ever seen a Mantis eating.... Have a Wonderful Day~ Hugs, ~Melinda~

Terrific portrait of the voracious predator hanging under the flower, Melinda! That's "Praying" Mantis, young lady. So named because they appear to be in the process of praying when not preying on some unsuspecting insect.
