Description

The Tuskegee Airmen. These courageous men fought a battle on two fronts. Against the enemy and their own government for the right to fly as combat pilots. Credits- P47 by Bazze (very generous with his free models) Apollo Max by Anton Kisiel (also generous freebie) WW2 USAAF Pilot Pack by adh3d (excellent fit) Hanger by ThunderR (Great models with many extras) But most of all to Neil (Neiwil) for re-texturing the P47 for me. Thanks mate, best textures out there. Thanks for looking and any comments/advice. Emil.

The simple and yet subdued lighting does something that works well with the subject. I was so amazed when I first learned about the Tuskegee Airmen that they there had been an attempt to bury and forget these men who did so much for their country. Outstanding tribute you have created here.

Great render of a very worthy group of airmen. Anyone who hasn't read about their exploits in the 332nd Fighter Group of the US Army Air Corps should take a look...wonderful stuff. I've read that when the Red Tails flew fighter escort duty for B-17s...never was a B-17 lost to enemy air attack. And never is a mighty high standard. Bill

This is really an excellent render; looks so real! The Tuskegee Airmen were a fabulous bunch of pilots and all Americans should be proud of them. Unfortunately, there still remain a few over here on the other side of the pond who are not. Shame on them! I'd also add that they fought a third war with their fellow white squadrons. Bomber crews radioed insults when they first began flying bomber protection and didn't want them around. But they never lost a bomber that they protected and it wasn't long before the bomber crews were deliberately requesting their services. I'd point out that the first person to die in the Revolutionary war was black. There has been no war in which America was involved where no black persons served. Some of the first Congressional Metal of Honor winners were black, but after the Civil War was over, the Army and Navy officer corps was dominated by White Southerners and until Dwight Eisenhower was president, no black person could earn that medal--and rarely the Silver or Bronze Star. This was the case for the Tuskegee Airmen. I know in recent times, there has been some Black servicemen who have belatedly or posthumously been given these awards. Whether any of the Tuskegee men were among these I cannot say. Today, though, the U.S. Armed Forces are probably one of the best and most integrated of American institutions.
