Description
Quite often I feel lack of context in most of my images which quite often drives me to make up collages where I also feel lack of context. it's endless, I think. Still here's one more collaged based on a recent session I made around the nearby St. Panteleimon orthodox church. Thank you for commenting on Open University. I do hope the title was quite explicit.

photographs sometimes speak to the viewer themselves without any specific context...we each take different things, thoughts/emotions away from looking at art...your work is always thought provoking... I love the different pov's and lighting in this collage

Orthodox architecture is often very heavy, but you've captured this with enough cleanness and contrasts that it appears crystalline, almost carved out of white & black marble. Even your shadows are sharp and make the whites stand out by contrast. And the shapes seem very clean. I do see the harmony between the diagonals: Arches in one pair, rooftops in the other. And there are also stark verticals in 3 of the 4 shots. it's very clean, very tactile; and I think the saturation in the roof-shots (with the trees visible in one) makes the starkness of the images stand out all the more. I really like this, Nikolay. It's a stark and contrasting piece.

This is a gorgeous and elegant collage; I admire the deft arrangement and the way the different images play with and against each other. The images are gorgeous on an individual level, and taken as a whole, this collage possesses a profound dignity fitting to the subject matter.
