Description

..I flew to New Orleans today..I am amazed by the melange of culture and the blend of architecture having Spanish, French, Irish, British, Italian origin..one corner of the street looks like Barcelona, I turn around and it brings about France, next street looks like Naples / Italy...and if i cross the street again i realize ..i'm still in America.. Nite Life has its peak here. People are amazingly nice and enjoying themselves. I'd love to spend a few months here and also make it to the 'rough' / affected areas..you remember..Katrina disaster..see how that looks like now..a lot of people moved from the area and still they say ..'not a good idea to venture out there, looks the same'.. I still have to see a lot of America, every city is a surprise, not as i pictured it..I remember hearing people saying ..America doesn't have much culture...hello! there's so much history and culture everywhere you go if you ask me. all around hitting you in the face, open your eyes and also your ears..."Planet of New Orleans"..Dire Straits...i think it's their most awesome song next to 'Iron Hand'..long before i started travelling i was playing this song incessantly..now i'm in N.O. and it's real..bites the reality..it's my 'soundtrack' while here.

New Orleans is like no other place in America. I find it to be so very exciting. The French district and Bourbon Street are the most incredible places I've ever been and in spite of the warnings to be careful and know the streets are filled with danger, I feel very comfortable there. I will say, listen to the locals about the areas still affected by Katrina. Yes, they are much as the storm left them - and before the storm those areas were very dangerous on a good day even for those who lived there. If you must go, go with the sun high and do not go alone - stay in your car and don't stop to chat - go through and leave. You don't want to be there and they don't want you there... trust me on that one. :-) New Orleans rocks!:-) (be sure to have the boiled crawfish!)
