Description

The source for this image is a digital photo I shot. I cropped the original using PSPP X2's crop tool... I then promoted the image from a 'background' to a layer.... I slightly increased the height of the canvas and using the 'pick' tool I then transformed the image, making it slightly taller and narrower.... I think narrowing and making the image taller improved it's visual appeal, at least imho... :-) The walker & shadow were originally closer to the bottom of the hill, so I removed her and placed her nearer to the top. I then cloned in the area from where the walker was removed... Using the Topaz-Adjust plugin I fiddled around until I got something I liked... I then added the 'grass' texture in PSPP X2 and used a PSPP stock frame "edge paint".... Cheers Kenmo

I can give you a hint for getting a more online image. Go in the blue channel remove about 15-20% of what it contributes to the green when combined with yellow. Leave the red channel alone. This is because on a balanced color wheel the blues and greens don't become as dark as pigments ever. Adjusting the contrast won't do it. Adjusting the brightness will only wash out the colors. You are right that this autumn darkness is what can call for the examination of color mixing online. In the opposite sense if you see something too fluorescent or bright in saturated hues add only black to blue and green to get a natural pallet.

You know what would be neat for us striving to learn some of these things you've described? A before and after shot...side by side. Just a thought. Lots of original thinking on your part. Good job x10. Bill

I like how you have manipulated this Autumn capture, the narrowing has changed the feel totally from the original and make the walker a better focus point ! Neat postwork and technique ! ~Cheers~
