Description

so.. I'm not an artist like a lot of you - I'm a photographer mainly and I like to try and get creative with textures and layers and stuff (I have to review who's stuff I'm using here) A question I have is this: I didn't particularly like this session and have to do something with the images because it's expected. So, now I feel kind of forced into trying to be artistic with something that I don't find inspiring. Does anyone else go through this? Does this look forced? and does the mood I was aiming for come through (a mysterious image found in a trunk) thanks! Julia

This to me is an interesting image. The subject seems to have a startled/treatened look that adds mystery to what is going on. Where is the threat coming from, inside or out. I enjoy what might be somewhat of a grunge effect as far as the background is concerned. The textur on her right side (with her facing front) seems to come somewhat from the background and then blends her in to the scene, perhaps creating somewhat of a surrealistic effect. If this was a forced image, it was also creative, however it might feel more like work than feeding one's soul. I never don't claim to have artistic ability as far as drawing is concerned, however I do believe that photography can be artistic. I like what I see here. Do what you want.

So far this looks good to me but I would have also put a few scratches over the Model because all around her looks old but she does not have the same old photo look. Maybe a bit of sepia over the whole image as a last step. Beautiful Model.

I can relate to your problem, some jobs can be quite stubborn and wear you down. That said the pic looks good, but I don'y know if I would call it mysterious. Maybe some motion blur or dropping the colour in the background for a monochrome or sepia effect (or silvered)? Oh sorry just noticed Raindrop said that.

Yeah, I've fought the desire to scream on some jobs, fer'shure understand your position. Overall textures and fx's look good, like the tint. Agree on the face is just not a part, to clean for rest of it. Doesn't look like it came out of a trunk, nor mysterious to me. It is attractive however. I'd try to pull her into the background, and the line coming out of here head to 11 o'clock is unneeded to me. On my monitor this already looks sepia over color.

I like the overall effect, and there are paths for variations in the previous comments. I just want to say that I also work on images that do not convince me at the beginning. And this process lets me experiment with effects that later work wonders in the right images. Note: few people come back to the same images to see your replies. If you want to address comments I suggest that you use the Renderosity site mail

Does not look forced to me, and actually I like that the grunge effect doesn't intrude on her. It makes it look like she is stepping out of the photo into the world. : )

I would have no faults with this, why change art to meet another's perception of perfection. Well done

truthfully, i think your other pics are much more interesting. if you really "have to do something with the images because it's expected", does it have to be a mysterious image found in a trunk ? the face and hair style look too modern to me, more like lots of light and a white background ?

Well personally I'm a photography purest...well sorta kinda. Anyway this a beautiful finished product but, in my humble opinon, it goes beyond photography into the graphic arts genre of which is wonderful and I'm too timid to even venture...because I'm sure I can't even come close to what you do here!
