Description
Nineteenth in a series of classic vehicles, captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California.
For more information on this event, see my posting for 9/28/08.
If the top shot wasn't the only capture I had of this model, I would have trashed it. First off, in my giddy, hyper, sunstroked condition, I failed to shoot the entire left side of the auto. Secondly, the picture was skewed at a 5-degree angle, so in righting it I had to crop out some of the left side. And, in a last gasp bit of postwork, I blurred and darkened the background, including the onlookers, so as to emphasize the auto itself.
The bottom shot is most impressive with the chromed grill, lights, horns and various geegaws, which unleashes a torrent of reflections on its own. Speaking of reflections, if you look closely you will see mine in the starboard fender over on the left side, and in the top photo a smaller version of myself in the port fender and chrome hubcap.
And, as an added feature in the bottom picture, if you look at the top of the grill over on the right side, you will see the menacing image of Freddy Krueger, of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series of films.
Finally, I know many of you are tired of looking at these old beauties day after day, but I'm on a roll and it's difficult to stop.
Have a nice day/evening.

You allready said what's whit a top, so lets smootch on a bottom capture what I realy like. I might would risk to say this is a best of the series sofar. The reflection explaine what happening in a back. Guy on checking a picture on a preview, girl, very smart brought an umbrella whith her for a hot sunny day. Good entertaining double for us today.

To someone whose first glimpse of a sports car was an MG-TD and whose memory of Triumph has to be from magazines to be a TR-2 this is revealing stuff. Order of the Garter and KBE and all that. Eventually a TR-3 appeared in the tiny town I grew up in driven by an insurance man and his high school daughter. Then in college I even worked on a TR-4 adjusting the Zenith carburetors before the owner moved to a vane type supercharger and a Holley downdraft. He would accost me as soon as I arrived to visit with his woes about Lucas "the prince of darkness" and a fateful poweer loss he was sure was the points in the distributor. I would get the pressure guage I had borrowed from my Thundeerbird owning fiend and check the boost. Aha! I would say, the belts need tightening. It would take a few moments maybe an hour to get him to allow me to experimentally tighten the belts and off he would roar to reappear with a big smile on his face. So I do know those big headlights are not French Marchals.
