Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

Wonderful photographic render of this superb abbey, which is found in several samples here on the site . Your capture enhances every detail of the monument and the serenity of the place , after all these centuries of battles and conquests. Excellent work!

Nice one, Alan. Good HDRI effect. I can just about understand how it works, but got a wee tool from MEDIACHANCE that allows one to do it on the fly. I was in Whitby, in early August, on a coach tour, recovering from major surgery. I too, 'dyked' the climb, having visted in 1972, and instead found myself wandering up towards the museum and park opposite. The museum was shut, but there were more butterflies in the gardens than I've seen in some so-called Butterfly Parks.. ;o) Unfortunately I was still suffering from terminal camera jitter, so don't have any decent photos of the day. Our party had spotted a llama and a camel, in a roadside field just north of Scarborough that morning. They were happily chewing the cud, next to a huge circus big top. On the way back, that evening, they were not to be seen. The memories remain.. ;o) Warm regards, John.

You did a fantastic job Alan mate, I like everything about this image, it's a top notch HDR, The above mentioned mediachance do a great contender to photomatix, it's called Dynamic Photo HDR, and is way cool, I just got a copy with the last of my birthday money, worth every penny in my book. check it out mate http://www.mediachance.com/hdri/index.html

Fascinating..., your photographic subject, the history and the HDR discussion. I tell myself, work on your photography, get into HDR later. Then I look at the website PD154 has recommended and I'm itching to give it a go. Your result above is excellent. Nice job. Big temptation. Bill

Excellent work! I just finished a book on this very subject, how many years of toil went into the building of cathedrals and how design evolved to include these beautiful window arches and the grand heights. Your shot has really brought this all to a vivid reality for me. : )
