Description

The Movie: Ada, mute since birth, her nine year old daughter and her arrive to an arranged marriage in the remote bush of nineteenth century New Zealand. of all her belongings her husband refuses to transport the piano and it is left on the beach. Unable to bear it's certain destruction, Ada strikes a bargain with an illiterate tattooed neighbour. She may earn her piano back if she allows him to do certain things while she play's - one black key for every lesson. The arrangement draws all three deeper and deeper into a complex emotional, sexual bond remarkable for its naive passion and frightening disregard for limits. One of the best New Zealand movies I have ever seen!

So this is a real movie huh? There's a lot of black keys on the piano... Must of been an xrated movie - lol - Hey your the one that said something about a sexual bond and black keys... Just watched Leatherheads with George Clooney - I wouldn't advise seeing it, but it was ok.

Amazing movie and some of the most heart-wrenching piano music I've ever heard in my life, and I'm the daughter of a concert pianist. I bought the DVD then went and bought the soundtrack---it does wild things to my heart...gorgeous render and it couldn't be dedicated to a nicer person. :)

it makes us cry.. sad story never knew they made movies in that country other than the American Ring Saga and the Dutch movie Bride Flight with Rudger Hauwer Nieuw Zeeland is unknow to the people from Old Zeeland and the rest of our country.. perhaps that is good.. as no news is good news.. allll seems well between the coastlines of that island deep down under our feet

This reflects the mood of the movie perfectly and it reminds me of the movie poster itself! It's hard to say this within a gallery as fine as yours but I think this is one of your very best, Deane! I love it!

A very nicely composed piece, the highlights from the lighting completely form the character and piano while they are still in shadow- a remarkable display of perfect lighting and a very imaginative work of art!
