This is great work! Maybe it's just me, but I see this as being like a badge of dishonor or humiliation. I love all the soldiers and pigs that look like children. This is so interesting to look at. I see so many symbols in here. Great antique look to this, yet timely.

Wow! This has so much detail. I'd reccomend zooming in to try to see everything. I too saw the Orwellian references.

I'm always trying to see hidden messages in these and looking at them long enough to curb my curiousity... but this one, I'm looking at world war two era stuff and out of the blue pops squarepants bob! What is squarepants bob doing in a world war 2 picture???

I always enjoy how you take images and make art from them in ways that one would never associate with the images. This is a kind of Orwellian image, as written so well by barryjeffer, and maybe a little socialist utopian something or other too. But it's also a design with fascinating collage of images & surprises—which are common in your work—like those cartoonish figures top right & left, or the human-pig faces, or the fascinating mix of faces & personalities in your soldier masses. It looks like you've paralleled your top panel in a smaller version below...and above all, you have a group of old soldier shots at bottom which gives this a nostalgic even tragic feel of old war, WWI, etc. A fascinating semi-symmetric design with lots to sit down and ponder. (And btw, thanks for your concern about my hand: It's healing very quickly; and all the art I'm uploading this week has been done before my accident. Thanks for your concern, Mandi.)

Very good composition.

i love the way the troops come marching out of the page. The pigs at the top are maybe the politicians and generals who get the war started but are rarely in the line of fire. The centre is the rah-rah of war the heroes marching out, the words in a lightning flash.The lower part, in more sombre hues, portrays the harsher reality of war. The whole image is a symbol of the cross and the memorial.

I'm with Seth....it definitely has an Orwellian look/feel....so much to take in...awesome !

The image immediately put me in mind of Turkey - the country, not the bird - but it is so far out of my reference that I'm not understanding it. It feels like commentary, of an Orwellian nature, yet I'm not sure if that isn't quite it, that seems to easy for this complexity. I see the appearance of a stratified society, with military between people of different classes, and the symbols of pop culture as a 'tool ?' of the uppers. Yet it is all formed into a cross and Turkey is I think Muslim. . . . Ambiguity to me certain has caused me to look at this for quite some time. Well done. Immense amount of work here - sometimes a title as decoding key is very useful to us dimmer bulbs.
