love the look, with its colors and dramatic lighting. i think your sketch indicates a good balance between realism and stylization. but what's casting the light from the front and to the side? i'd think the light behind and to the side would cause a rim effect, but not a full blown frontal shading like that. not that you couldn't have both. i'm just wondering how (if at all) you're imagining both. looking forward to further developments!

WELL ITS NOT LIKE MY whole day at work is spent doing this. I mostly work on maps and charts for a daily newspaper. I eat my lunch or dinner at my desk and don’t take the 2 recommended 15 minute breaks. so on occasion if I’ve cleared everything up I do something like this. There was another light source but it was cropped out and I didn’t think abot that at the time. oops!
