Description
I kept seeing a sign that said "Rome Sand Flats"
I found two areas where one can hike in and explore this .. I didn't find a lot of sand at this area..The sign at the trail head, stated that the local Indians used to hide in the sand dunes during war times..This shot was from a flat are near a river bed..Most likely this space flooded during heavy rains..There is...a lot of sand beneath the vegetation.

Great view - the tree branches bereft of leaves remind me of some giant web. Very interesting story and hard to believe that sand is nurishing all this growth.

Extraordinary image! Especially when taken into consideration what you have said about the history with the Natives as well as the fact that there are lot of sand dunes beneath this... it's almost hard to believe... yet most amazing! I love the serenity and the simplicity of this image. I would love to play hide and seek in these woods, and even get myself lost! Such a wonderful place to explore and navigate through!
