The Studio. Wangaratta Artist Society is located in Austalia, in the North East part of the State of Victoria, and meets and works at 'The studio', pictured. Wangaratta is located about 120 miles from Melbourne. Years ago the building was a Bull ring and was apart of the Wangaratta saleyards where stock farmers would sell there Stock. The Bull ring was where the Bulls of the day were displayed for sale that day and were led around the ring and potential buyers could examine varouse Bulls for sale, the day of a sale. It is built adjacent to The One Mile Creek, which hosts a walking /Bycyle path that runs from one end of the city to the next. When the Saleyards were relocated, the local Artists Society took steps to have the ring turned into a studio for Artists in the Wangaratta Area to work in. Government funds were allocated to re-furbish the bull ring into the now Studio. Its unique lighting promotes a very pleasant atmosphere to work in as the roof of the ring/Studio has 360 degree filtered white lighting due to the circular opaque windows surrounding the upper part of the structure of the roof. Currently there is the Annual framed Exhibiton/Show which is an event to co-incide with the Wangaratta Jaz festival held at this time of year. Many local Artists have work here on display for viewing and sale. It is a very pleasant site and full of Austalian atmosphere typically of this areas history.
