Description
I tried to figure out what Dave does & why he's so beloved. He takes the stories of others and nurtures them like precious jewels. You get the feeling that a friend's 'moment' is a lifetime to Dave... Then he slowly transforms their story into an image, always capturing an essence, always the 'jewel' inside. Then: He writes a tribute to the person along with the story, translates it into several languages for the many who don't speak English as a first language (!), and posts an image with such careful detail & love, because he's in the service of a life and feels its call to his toes.
Because the rose is a symbol of wisdom, and flame the symbol of tales. ("When taletellers speak, flames rise out of their lips...")

I'll bet Dave is going to love this! Thanks for the explanation of both Dave's nurturing ways and the rose. I agree that he is there when you need him as I've experienced this too! This burning rose is so crisp and alive with the edges scorched, leaving the beautiful imprint where ever it goes. Perfect symbolism.

What an amazing image and tribute! The beauty here is twofold...to receive such a dedication would be incredibly touching and heart-quickening, and to create such a dedication requires a pronounced measure of understanding as well as the ability to crystallize something abstract in the extreme and give it flesh in whatever form that flesh may take. As for the art itself, the brilliance is perfect...reds are always such tempestuous colors, hard to manage, and yet you've achieved a superb balance here. Wonderful work!
