Description
Here is a blue flower we had growing in our back yard this summer. I am just now getting to look at all the gorgeous pictures my wife and I snapped over the year with our Sony Handycam. Does anyone know what kind this is? I am thinking cornflower but am not sure. Thanks for looking.

OK, I'm laughing! At first I was going to say, geranium and then I thought wandering jew and then Andrea says Tradescantia - so comes along Tara with spiderwort. :-) Yes to all... it is of the geranium family (as evident by the grouping of buds) and the 3 petal flower shows its connection to the Wandering Jew. For a tiny, fragile flower, it has a lot to offer.

Spiderwort it is indeed, they can be several different shades. Excellent capture

Very nicely done!

Thank you all for the information and kind comments. Another thing about this picture is that with no work done to it, the color faded in posting. The actual color is a brilliant blue rather than a more violet color. Any tips for preserving original color in pictures? Thank you again.
