my attempt was to make it look like a storm in the distance. With a little post work I think I could manage it.

Hmmm. The image is not all that what I expected from the thumb. I don't have the impression that the water is transparent (08.44), it looks more like Waterworks to me. Also the shore is a little to steep, you should try to squash the terrain by 50%. Also the horizon should be a little higher. I'm also still working on my island series, it's kinda difficult to get those real jaw-dropper images, I know. Hope that helps.

Another viewpoint would be better, so I can see the end of the landscape. Surface needs more layers between the green and the sand. The clouds must be more thin. The water is okay.
