Political parties change over time. I have heard that at one time, the philosophies behind Democratic and Republican parties was the reversed (Republicans being more liberal and Democrats being more conservative). I should clarify that this cartoon is referring to many of the Republican politicians, not the citizens (think Dick Cheney going hunting...). I am particularly referring to how this year almost all of the Republican presidential candidates supported Bush's Iraq war policy and approach. Fortunately this isn't all Republican candidates (such as Ron Paul, who seemed like a very reasonable man and worth voting for). This cartoon will make more sense if you recall a cartoon character who appeared with Bugs Bunny: Elmer Fudd.
