Description

I sound so old when I say "Where does the time go", or when I say "It seems like only yesterday when .... ". I find myself saying this a lot these days; now that my son is in College - and 18 yrs old. This is Ernie ... at age 3 and at 18. I am missing him today, so I thought I'd put these two photo's together and post them. I love you Ern ... I'm so proud of you!! Mom xx November's Photo Challenge - The Odd One Out!

So, that's Ernie...handsome lad; I've always wondered what he looked like. As for where does the time go, wait til you get to be my age; it goes faster than ever, and leaves you with a feeling of approaching finality and loss of control.

I think i better take some more pics of my son now as what you posted is kind of moving. It's also interesting to see the ways he has changed as he grew and I wonder how old he was when you worked out he needed glasses. My wife was born with horrendous near sightedness but I had the best eyesight possible for us humans so wonder which way he will go and how we will find out.. Hmm, your image is a real thought provoker and you have a good looking son too.

Excellent portraits of your son!!!! Time does fly.... I remember as a kid when summer holidays used to last forever and now it zips by so fast a person needs to have two summers in the same year. (smiles)

The "before" and "after" shots are great. I know what you mean about where does the time go... my first-born is now 36, my baby is 31 and the middle child is 35. I never knew the human mother-brain could hold so many memories...

Your upload surely divided as all in the two groups: the ones to get there still and the other long gone past. Did I forget about the silent majority in the middle? Great capture and a moving tribute to your son.

Great pics here Shari. Handsome young man you've got for a son! Before my dad passed away a year ago at age 99 1/2, I assembled a DVD of his life from one month old in a baby carriage in 1908 to him practicing his favorite saxophone in 2007. Even added cool saxophone music playing in the background. We played it for him at his 99th birthday. His comment was, "Gee, that makes me feel pretty good about my life". So, keep those family pictures going and don't forget to get some of you and your husband for your kids too. Maybe, when you are 99... (makes you think doesn't it?) Bill

I wish I knew the answer to your question Shari, my eldest is now 40 years old and my yougest(still at home) is 21. I also have two sons aged 37 & 39, the three eldest with my first wife. Excellent comparison photo's, it's nice to be able to keep a record, I have albumns full of mine in early years, but as they grow older they get camera shy for some reason. Ernie will be back home with you before you know it, but then he will want to travel all the more. You know about fledglings and stretching their wings. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
