Description

I was drive by after church by these feild of sugar cane and saw these cane cutter cutting this feild of cane. I saw a big car by the feild and this old almost 90 year old man was watching so I walked over to him and talked.[wish I took his photo now] He say they cutting the fouth year growth of cane for the storms of this year was not good on them. I find out they do plant cane when I show you a month or so ago and now they harveing the cane now. I took this shot a few weeks ago. They use some of the first year growth to plant new feilds and they let the cane they cut that year to grow and cut each year up to the forth year. The forth year is the worse growth but they still make money on it. It like a gamble with it. Like I say they lose the forth year this year because of the two big storms we had. the rest of the cane is good. they will cut it and burn it the next day. this man had to get out and fix something on the cutter. thanks for looking and comments

Reminds me of when I worked on a farm as a teenager, one of the farmhands lost a finger clearing the hay from the mower blades, the tractor rolled back when he had his hand near the blade. Cut his first and second fingers off, it was his own fault though, he should have used the rake. Excellent capture and information. Bravo!!!!!

Fine detail in this photo of something many people will never get to see live, at least not those up north where it is to cold to grow sugar cane. Fine work Jocko!
