Description

More mist again today.. while yesterday's shot was taken on the journey home, this was taken on the way out, near the end of our driveway where I hopped out of the car and went exploring the foliage in the mist. To me these woods seemed so still, peaceful and otherworldly, hence the title (not in the mood for a mundane one today ;)) The 'effect' was mainly achieved through a combination of different filters at varying opacities, using Optikverve Labs' free and rather good Virtual Photographer plug-in. Though I've had it for a number of months I've only recently been exploring the possibilities of blending different filters in different modes, and there are so many little sliders to tweak for a customised finish to your pic... if you have photoshop I'd recommend giving it a little look: Virtual Photographer. Thanks for all the comments and favs on my previous upload, hope you enjoy this one and good luck navigating the mists out there! Have a good one, Adam

I’ll check out Virtual Photographer. My only critique here (if such a thing is even allowed on Renderosity anymore) is you've lost the detail on some of the ferns. That can happen with high contrast photography, and of course it's all in the eye of the beholder, but personally I hate it when I lose detail in either the dark levels or the white levels. Sometimes I'll shoot the same shot at different apertures so I can lift the missing areas from one shot to be restored from another. Did you use a flash here? If so that could be the culprit. Sometimes you have to, but some kind of cover over the flash can mellow it out some. Love the foggy background.
