At first a little introduction, I'm Dirk's nephew, Mark. Dirk prepaired en catalogued his work for us. In his final weeks en months, he asked me to keep posting his unpublished works on Renderosity and on his personal website (http://www.monteny.net). It gave him peace to know his spirit will live on trough his artwork online.

sad news, my condolences for the family of my great friend and master Dirk. If some day the history of the artists is written but big that had given the art fractal in Renderosity, the name of Dirk will figure with letters of gold, for the talented and creative that had its artistic production.

I first 'met' Dirk through his goodbye post to Urchin. I followed his Haiku and wonderful artwork through the years, and finally through his battle with the dreaded Dragon. He enriched my life, and gave me tears, laughter and wonderment. He gave so much. Saying he will be missed is an understatement.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. But he is only going to the next stage of life where I would think things would be a lot better then this stage.

I didn't know his work, I'm visiting by a favorite artist of mine mentioning he was a great artist. You are going through some tough times, but you Did him great honor posting his last image and telling all his fans the news. I as an artist only hope that I have the same respect that you gave your husband - Smile, that effort of yours to honor his work brought joys of tears to him I'm sure.

I'm crushed......I'll think of him every time I look at the hand carved horse and rider (a Belgian shrimper) his dad made that he sent me a few years ago.....what an awesome guy he was - the very definition of "good people".....

He was a person I would have loved to have met in the real world. A fine artist, a human being of great heart, he was a great writer, touching many hearts here at Rendo. He has left a gaping hole in many hearts here. I am so sorry for your loss, and ours.
