Description

To a lost warrior (D.C.Monteny) who has lost his war with the C dragon. There are no words or deeds that can soften the pain for those left behind. I can only offer a salute to a wonderful man and very creative artist who gave us all he could. To Dirk... ------------ Please forgive lack of credits.. I cannot recall atm.

I didn't know Dirk or his work, but I learned of him through those who dedicated images to him. Now I see yours. Given what you wrote of him in a comment, you couldn't have evoked a better tribute or memorial to his heart. It doesn't require a god, it doesn't require a tradition, just a human spirit never retiring, and yet bowing in surrender even as he still holds his sword; and the chamber he's in is open to the cosmos yet still protecting him; and the cosmos outside is pregnant with enormous light & power. It's a beautiful, deeply touching tribute. And if he is hearing, if something of the light in him is seeing, I hope he sees what you & others have done for him; and how, in this image, you captured him as a deep noble soul, bowed in solitude & strength, and surrendering to a mystery larger than him or any of us; and bathed in an evening light which, in this vision, has the seeds of something luminous and embracing forever...Beautiful.
