*If anyone knows a good way to capture a painting with a digital camera, please let me know. I had to put two photos together because neither one was just right.
Thanks for looking and any comments.

I like the work, textures and forms are great. Shooting art work. Think copystand for your lighting to start, that's the hard part. Two lights, one on each side at a 45 degree angle or less, take a piece of white paper in the center of art work and white balance to that before shooting. Depending on surface reflections you may need to get a more shallow angle. I use two large softboxs both with some old thin white clothe to further soften the light @ about 30 degrees from the art work, my studio floors are awful so i must put a small level on the camera and on the top of the frame prior to shooting. The camera I use also has a grid i can turn on in view finder, which helps too. In photoshop i make tiny color/contrast corrections with the art work in view from my monitor, which helps immensely. I switched to Mac last dec. and have started to capture directly to the computer using Aperture - instant feedback at a good viewing size. My setup: nikon d300 on tripod with remote shutter release; 2 1000 watt second flash units. Photofloods will work just as well, and are 'way cheaper than flashes, any digital camera that allows manual white balance will do fine too. I got tired of paying for professional shooting and decided that the investment in a setup would save me money in the long run. ~tim
