Description

This Photo was taken by an apprentice of mine Roxy Bowles using a Nikon D40, F-Stop at f/5.3, an exposure of 1sec. And ISO 100. The tree is a coral tree and taken at 18H30; I have tried to explain this photo to friends of mine and cannot do so. So if anybody can tell me how she got the 3D effect I would really appreciate it.

My guess-- (A) She was handholding the camera when she took this low-light exposure. The act of depressing the shutter button with her right finger was just enough to cause a subtle streaking of the image. (B) Her tripod was not quite locked down. Again, the camera moved, either by subtle pressure of her finger or, if she was using a shutter release cable, by the weight of the camera. I got similar results when I was taking long exposure shots of a Lunar eclipse. The results here are quite pretty, by the way.

Thanks for the input; I am trying to recreate the picture without using software to do it
