Description

This is a photo of a finished, framed aluminum print. Image area is 9.8" x 16"; framed 14.5" x 20". This one the second that i did in this new suite of prints of hosta leaves with oriental style borders. Pushed the border concept to far with this one compared to the first and the two to follow. But I've learned someone will love it. Happy about the leaf itself tho. This particular image was shot before signing, or final varnish - just wanted to wrap up the photo documentation. [all done with nikon d300 and two flashes, asa 200, f16 @ 160th second] thanks for comments - all are appreciated. ~tim

well, just catching up...I'm not sure that the border is too far, I'm just not sure that it adds greatly to the central leaf; but honestly, when viewing what you've done with the leaf, I'm mesmerized. You've brought forth the decay-tones so they are luminous, the whites here & the golds (both bright & pale) of the overfold, and the general music of the deep grays against the greens & peaches & ambers is just wonderful choreography: The thing is packed & dancing. But there's the 'tim' touch (ask me what I mean, go ahead, I don't know if I can answer!)—a master play between light & dark and a way you have of accenting both so that they have powerful presence & definition, all in a small space. That's part of your 'touch'...You sure know how to put a world into a defined space, in fact I send people to your gallery for that among other things; and your background, that living cracked & veined gray, is alive, for all its quiet & reserve. I already fav'd it, but I'll say it again: It's a fav. As a friend would say (though not of me), "gahhhhd, you're gooooooooood".
