I love how you combine media—art-materials are 'clay' in your hands, you just mold them however you're called to. It's like Waiting for Godot, two souls waiting: One is in agony, but also maybe he's just tired (his posture seems relaxed, so there's a mix of pain & waiting); while the other soul's sitting at attention but at rest within herself, she really seems at rest (or maybe resigned), and her slight tilt towards #1 makes her look concerned, like she's quietly looking out for him. A very tender moment. I sense a quiet connection between these two, filled with gentle concern. And then, they're sitting in open space with no chair, no walls, just introspective blues & grays (and touches of reds & violets, very nice)—that also feels like Waiting for Godot. Yet there's a quiet love in the image. Quietly disturbing but wholly touching & sensitive. A piece that stays with the viewer, even after they leave...

Ana, I have spent a wonderful time this evening strolling through your gallery. There is such beauty and richness here. I had planned to comment on 'The flying dance.' I love that image. There is such joy and energy there. I'm sure I will get back there soon. I was thinking as I looked through your gallery, that if I ever had a room, devoted to art, I would want an Ana corner (Maybe two or three, but definitely one.) In that corner, I would place your wonderful figure images that celebrate the complexity of the human soul. At first, I thought I would like to have a corner that was all the images that were filled with joy, but on reflection, I think I would want to run the gambit of the many emotions you depict in your work. To look at them all together would be a celebration of all our complexities. I love your work. It is like a song, that lifts the listener and carries him on a journey of discovery. This image struck a chord with me tonight. When I saw it, I saw two people in the waiting room of a hospital. Both connected, yet withdrawn into their own personal world of pain and worry. The one, having reached a stage of exhaustion, from hours of adrenalin rush followed by deep sorrow. Sleep will not come, but the mind and body have shut down. The other drawn deeply within herself. Her body assuming the position to close everyone and everything out. Unconsciously setting up barriers against the news that she expects to hear at any moment. Yet, though separate, the two figures are also connected. They are connected by their love for the loved one in jeopardy, and by their love and need of each other in this time of crisis. I look at this and see a waiting room, but I also see a more abstract image of family and friend connections. The world of pain and loss is bearable when, though lost in our own grief, there is someone there beside us.
