G'day,
and thank you for the chance to introduce myself......
okay, that sounds waaaay too stuffy.... how about this then...... I was raised on Canadian Army Bases which limited the type of grand exposure that my peers would have enjoyed... (In High School, every one of my City Friends would spend Monday mornings talking about Saturday Night Live.... I had no idea what an Ackroyd or a Belushi was....). but you learn.......
I am mostly self taught as no respectable art school would have anything to do with me.
I make movies, live and animated, am one half of a Jazz Duo (called Three Men With Mono.... I play with another animator, the astounding Richard Reeves... and yeah we know, a duo is less than 3 men... but hey....Grand Funk Railroad isn't a Railroad, Iron Butterfly isn't an insect.... and Pink Floyd is well...)
I work in digital photography, Poser (which rules), Bryce, Deluxe Paint 4 (yes I still have working Amiga's), and anything that functions for me...and I'm developing a new animation technique for using with inexpensive digital cameras.
I am currently living in Medicine Hat, Alberta, with 2 robot dogs and my dreams....
and unless you've made other plans, have a great day!

Time flies by, and in these wall.... history flies by too. Sights seen, boys going of to the Great War, the war to end all wars.... politicians and clergy all saying speeches, sending the best, the flower of the the community off to fight against an evil.... jolly tidings, saying how the boys will be back by Christmas..... although it would take almost 4 Christmasses, and so few would return. The entertainment changed, first live theatre, music ringing the rafters, then the flicker of moving images, silent motion with a piano accompianment....... in a few years, scratchy voices and warbling music from the film itself. Times change, again boys gather to be sent off to war, a new evil that needed to be fought.... this time people knew that the boys wouldn't be home by Christmas.... new movies, new music.... the things that these walls have seen, the night the censors shut the doors because a Clockwork Orange was played, the night the potrestors stotmed the gates because Jesus Christ Superstar was the main feature.... how many first kisses occured under the coloured lights, sealed hearts forever, how many tears of joy, of sorrow. Replaced by cineplexes, and home theatre.... the community experience replacedby the cold sterility of a private showing. many of your sister theatres go on... as art house venues, community productions..... or are prostituted by being turned into fashionable night clubs and bars....... as the voices and the faint music rebounds through the aged timbers, rejoice in your history, in your meaning.... the life you have known, the hearts you have touched....

I also have fond memories of catching a tram on a Saturday, to watch the old cliff-hangers matinees and with the wooden floors, the sounds of 'Jaffas'(round chocolate sweet with an orange crust) rolling by, which would always get a giggle or two ! Thanx for the reminiscence and a great capture to relive those good ol' days ! ~Cheers~

New Cross Kinema became a supermarket New Cross Empire (Music Hall) became a petrol station back in the 50s ... Now the pubs are closing (smoking ban, higher prices), turning into shops and private houses ... All those memories.
