Description

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for supporting me. Your advice was very helpful. Thank you, truly. And now to the image. This was taken about a year ago towards the end of summer. I went out with a few friends to Castine, an island off of the coast of Maine. Most people walk around on top of the pier, looking out over the water. I walk around under the pier, looking at the life left when high tide goes out. There were many starfish, crabs, periwinkles and barnicles under there. All of the rocks were slippery and it was hard to get around, which made it quite the adventure. By the way, if you ever make it out to Castine, you must go into Dennett's Warf and buy a bowl of clam chowder. It's honestly the best there is. It's actually one of the only reasons why we made the two hour trip. Well, that and the fact that it is below sea level and there is one section of road where you can actually see that the ocean is higher than the car. It's amazing, and beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful shot! And under the pier is where you certainly get the most unique view of things....things that most folks just pass by.

What a fantastic shot... one can almost see time eating the pilions away.. great colors, fungus green is a favorite of mine... Nothing to match this here in Michigan... Beautiful Shot... seth
