Description

Right well I've been playing with this one for a bit and think I'd better put it up before I get a bit carried away! As you can probably tell it's a bit of a montage, but all the shots were taken in the same place - the church and shrine of Sainte Sara in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Though I'm not a religious guy I have respect for sacred places and am sometimes moved by the atmosphere and decorations within, not to mention the architecture. Going down into this shrine was seriously like stepping into a sauna, there were so many candles alight in a small space that it felt more like descending into hell than a holy shrine! Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is the capital town of the Camargue province of France, and a bit of a tourist haven.. it was nice to take a breather in the church! This shot was taken in the shrine down some steps in the centre of the church - the shrine is to Sainte Sara, sometimes called Sara La Kali (Sarah the black), about whom various legends exist, but the place was, perhaps still is, a major pilgrimage spot. For a bit more info if you're interested click here. I've been concentrating more recently on tightening up my postwork/design skills than actually spending much time shooting new material, and I'm keen on exploring blending multiple images into a single frame.. I guess I'm quite keen to get my teeth into a good montage project in the near future when I get chance.. this one I'm still not sure I'm 100% happy with but you learn by doing I guess ;) Hope you have a great Sunday, Adam
