Description
Gordale Scar - Yorkshire
Once said to have been more of a cave than it is now after water erosion over many many years.
James Ward produced a famous painting of this feature between 1812 and 1814 for Lord Ribblesdale, a local landowner .
You can see the waterfall in this image but just out of sight there is another gaping hole in the cliff where water thunders through.
I have done a closer version of this but you need to stand back to get the full idea of this fascinating chasm.This is a four shot panorama
