Description
my Great grand father came to Texas Gulf Coast and he originally built a home near Rockport but a hurricane destroyed his house. He salvaged materials from the wreck and also from wrecked ships. the house is constructed from cypress and he also built fine furniture that is in the museum.this feet driven saw is what he used to do all the scroll work on his Victorian style home.it originally had 3 rooms. I just learned not long ago of the house and his history from a cousin through my sister's research.
I also was able to met a cousin that is 93 years young. she is such a lovely lady. she is going to have surgery soon to repair her broken hip. she is an artist and mostly done oil paintings. she got her degree from college late in life. She told me when she was young she had the time but no money. later she had the money but no time. finally she had both and went for the gusto
joking with her, I told her when she gets her hip fixed I will take her out dancing. she said it is a date, but no kissin' cousin stuff!!haha
I added that last part
thanks for looking and any comments

All this stuff from a time when folks were not interested in pointing out flaws. Too busy making a place to live. Lincoln paraphrased Jesus when he said,"look not to the mote that is the other man's eye, but look to the log that is in your own." My take on Texas justice and Texas logic found in schoolbooks. My father is 93. He loves Judge Judy all the other TV judges, he never got into radio evangelism like my older uncle.

I feel really happy for you Richard, coming across something like this in your family must have been something of a shock to the system, a nice shock I hope. Getting to meet your cousin as well, learning things about the family as well I guess, and you have to be proud of your great grand father and his achievment here. To find this foot operated scroll saw still in reasonable condition as well. Your Great Grand Fathers name is associated with this house as the builder but who is this Margerite Rogers? what is she famous for apart from owning the house at one time? I have had a look on their web site but it tells you very little about the person herself, only about what is going on at the house. Excellent capture, and an interesting story as well. Bravo!!!!!
