Description
Still re-reading War of the Twins, book 2 of the Dragonlance Legends by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
"Raistlin!" It was Crysania's voice. Lifting his gaze, he saw her standing before him, holding his hands away from his face, her eyes wide and filled with concern.
"I'm all right", Raistlin said coldly. "Leave me alone!" But, even as he spoke, he sighed and lowered his head again, shuddering as the horror of the dream washed over him. Pulling a clean cloth from a pocket, he negan to dab at the wounds on his face.
"No, youre not", Crysania murmured, taking the cloth from his shaking hands and gently touching the bleeding gouges. "Please, let me do this", she said, as he snarled something unintelligible. "I know you wont let me heal you, but there is a clear stream near. Come, drink some water, rest and let me wash these".
Sharp, bitter words were on Raistlin's lips. He raised a hand to thrust her away. But then he realised he didnt want her to leave. The darkness of the dream receded when she was with him. The touch of warm, human flesh was comforting after the cold fingers of death.
And so, he nodded with a weary sigh.
This is Raistlin Majere the most powerful archmage on Krynn and Lady Crysania, the last cleric of the God Paladine. In the Dragonlance Legends, Raistlin wears the black robes of the evil mages and travels back in time to rewrite history and challenge the Queen of Darkness in an attempt to become a God. With him travels Crysania, a dark haired elven beauty who wears the white robes of a cleric and clings to her faith in Paladine.
Raistlin believes he is merely using Crysania to aid him in his quest, seeking to turn her powerful faith into a weapon he can use. Crysania is convinced that her faith can save Raistlin from the destructive path he is walking, believing that with her help he can be redeemed and turned from his dark path.
Thus begins one of the most epic stories of love against all obstacles, faith and unavoidable doom ever written...
*** Please do not post spoilers in your comments, I havent read the final part yet and dont want to know how it ends, thank you! ***
My thanks again for the continued support of the Renderosity community. I want to especially thank the fans of the Dragonlance books who leave such generous compliments on my attempts to bring the heroes of Krynn to life.
