Another river bend
I have finally figured out
It just never ends
I have been searching for happiness
And peace in my soul
Probably since the day I was born
For some tormented souls
Enough is just never enough
You don't know what you are missing
So you don't know what it takes
To fill this empty space
I have been so hungry
For so long
I have forgotten
How good it is to eat
What is in front of me
To take pleasure
At the things that are at my hands
Instead of what is far away in my mind
In the dark of night
My soul cries to the lord
Heal this wound
Take away this need
To need
What is out of reach
Or does not exist
Give this poor old soul
Rest

This prose speaks volumes to me. I have spent a lot of my life feeling exactly this way. How do you explain to people that you know you are missing something vital to your being, something you have lived without, but searched for, waited for, yearned for? Eventually I stopped praying, because no one answered the prayers. Life is what it is...
