"We're talking with Congressman Thickbottom. Congressman, what is it you and your associates are doing here?"
"Well, obviously, we're trying to put the fire out by smothering it."
"With hundred dollar bills?"
"Certainly! And if we run out, we're sure The American People will be glad to donate more. Now, as soon as the other members of Congress come in from recess, we should be able to knock this thing down in no time. Wait a minute, looks like the automakers need our help now. Excuse me....Hey fellas, look over there. Looks like the Big Three need us, Bring your shovels!"

Just a little cartoon about our cartoon Congress. Had this idea a while back, but waited. Then the Automakers came in with their hands out. Figured I better get this done, because next week it might be the airline industry and the week after, who knows.
Clay's fire mat. Made the money mat by using photos of a real bill on 2D squares, then arranging them so they were tessalated and would tile. Rendered and applied to terrains.

Much as I love this work, and agree with the message in principle, I could also create the image of every retired pensioner world-wide living in poverty. SO whereas I hate the scenario you so well describe here, inaction would be worse! I see a third way... But it makes Guantanamo look like the Hilton. It also makes "The New Deal" look conservative. I can hear zorares already....
