Description

Ra is an ancient Egyptian Sun God, of course you all knew that. According to Wikipedia, by the fifth dynasty he had become a major god. He was associated with the mid-day sun, while other dieties represented other positions of the sun. As time passed, it was believed that he represented the sun from sunrise to sunset. Eventually he was joined with the God Horus, and became Re-Horakhty. When he was at the most important stage of Sun worship, he was believed to be in command of the sky, the earth, and the underworld. While playing with Cabin Tom's Destiny script, This neat fractal popped up, and like some fractals do, insisted it knew it's name. It did make me think of an early morning sunrise .. so there you have it, Ra Rising. I should have asked for no faves on the last post, "Last Song ...", as it was meant as a remembrance and tribute to a great person, artist, and writer. But I think all of you who faved it, did it for the same reason I posted it, to remember and pay tribute to Dirk So I thank you all for viewing and faving "Last Song .. for Dirk". I was SO close to being all caught up, and just like that, BAM, I'm behind again! I can't seem to stay caught up when I'm playing with Apo. Just can't multi task I guess, LOL!!

Great title for this lovely little sunrise. I think I'm a bit of a sun worshiper too as I hate cloudy days when the forecast says it is going to be sunny, like today was meant to be.

true words about Ra... Egyptians were wise beings... their structures will stand till the end of the planet.. Perhaps men has found ways to survive than and follow Ra into the sky.. to other stars.. to other places

Excellent work as always, and thanks for the history lesson, I had no idea the idea of Ra had evolved like that over time.

Wow! I can see that the both of us have been inspired by this fascinating Egyptian civilization and mythology lately :-) The sun rays your gorgeous fractal work has rendered here are truly amazing and the whole composition assuredly evokes the power of Ra. Excellent and well-inspired work, Rita!

Powerful. I love the precision, 3D-ness and colours, but most of all the effect.
