Description

I combined two digital photos I took of my cousin Michael's sons. They are from California and flew to Nova Scotia to visit family in late summer of 2008. Michael is originally from Nova Scotia...I took two separate photos of them with their grand mother (my aunt) and thought it would be nice to have a photo of them together. I had to mirror the photo of the boy on the right. The couch they are sitting on is a bit bigger then what is displayed.... All editing was done in PSPP X2 Ultimate (just arrived yesterday). After I had the photo edited, I ran it through Topaz Adjust, then I blurred it with Topaz-Denoise to give it a nice paintery look..... I then brought the image into Painter IX.5 and created the background (the original background was too bland and uninteresting).... Once more I brought the image into PSPP X2 and I duplicated the image. On the top layer I applied an unsharp mask, I then erased away their faces to reveal a softer face underneath.... Sharping the top layer helped to reveal the Painter brush strokes on the wall.... Cheers Ken

A lot of postwork wizardry in this one Ken ! It's amazing how one can manipulate a photo or two, well done ! Your cousin's son's look like a couple of fine strapping young lads, but their hair styles look straight out of the 70's/80's !!! maybe it's to keep their ears warm in the chilly North ? ~Cheers~

This is a great image...I love the realism of it, since it is realism! There is a distinct painted quality to this, right down to the personalities of the two guys that come through the way they're sitting and the expressions on their faces. It's great work on multiple levels and I'm glad I saw it.
