Description

One of the things I do around the property is maintain the various gardens, of which you've seen pictures of in the earlier postings. this set of pictures shows the before and after of what my mom has wanted done for several years. Well today, I got out the Hedge shears and the branch loppers and visciously attacked the Hydrangea (French Lace) and it went from a bush that was almost 6 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter to something under 2 1/2 feet in diameter and 18 inches tall in the span of an hour and a half - 5 wheel-barrow loads later. In a way it was occupational therapy for me as it was physical and mental exercise. and it did get me outside for once today. We'll be going back on the hike tonight and for a while with the possible exception of some more extreme makeover - garden edition shots. And it will be a little bit longer before we get back to Bambi's story as somehow I've got to convince the ladies to tell me the history of the pact and then write it down in their own words as it were so everyone knows what the pact was all about. (subject to possible translation errors - They do speak the language of the fae and while they do speak our English, there is that possiblity of errors creeping in). To all of you who commented on my previous images thank you very much and I thank you in advance for the comments on this set. Have a great weekend Mike

Glad to hear you have your parents. My Mother and all of my relatives ahead of her are all gone.... Make notes.... ask plenty of questions. What's your favorite recipe that your parents have made you? Do you know it? I collected some of my Mother's recipes and my Sister in law asked if she could borrow it to type it up - she lost it... I have not seen it since, and my Mom has been gone since 2001... She was a great cook. What ever she made was consistant and always tasted like it came from the same batch.... I miss her potato salad - damn that was good.

I hate pruning. I always feel like I'm butchering a living thing. I hate pulling up excess plants for the samer reason. Sigh. But I have to admit, you did one heck of a good job. Bet Mom is thrilled, too!

Oh my that looks like a real heavy workover, Mike, hopefully it comes again to its glory next year... somehow in caring for my parents I am glad they are living in a flat, I do like decorating the balcony with flowers and plants, so they have something nice to look at, but those are all potted and the delicate ones (i.e. the lemon tree) I give to the nursery over the winter time

You killed the poor plant!! Heehee. I don't expect you did, really. I've one that hasn't gotten any bigger than your after shot in years. And I miss my mom too. Good boy for taking care of yours.
