Hawaii's first flag pole.... Most of the coconuts around a public area are removed from the trees for safety reasons. Have a safe weekend. Aloha and thank you for viewing

A lone sentinel...but I see what you mean...if a flag is to be raised, you've got the natural resources in the form of palm trees to do the job. Isn't this one straighter than most? Good capture...all we need now are 4-5 Marines and a flag and we'd have a replica of the famous statue of the flag raising at Mount Suribachi. Bill

Man....it seems out in the middle of nowhere and not doing anybody any harm and yet the strip it bare! Might as well run a flag up it as it resembles a flag pole more than a coconut tree~ Aloha~

I've thought about the coconuts as I sat under one of those trees--but I still didn't move!! It wouldn't take much to fly the flag from one of them!!

I understand removing the coconuts...first time I went to Florida, I was amazed by all the ones I found on the ground. I can imagine standing under one when it fell!

oh my poor tree, but can understand the removing of the nuts...I read somewhere there are more people struck by coconuts every years than by lightning..
