Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Do you know that song by New Riders of the Purple Sage? This is great ... it reminds me of Monet's water lily paintings. Gorgeous!

This photo of it is fabulous but I don't think in person it would be quite so appealing. Ick...moldy plywood. :-)

I was thinking the same as Tara, and Monet's water lilies, you should put it up for auction on eBay Marylin, I'm sure the old lady would share with you. #;0) It really is an excellent abstract, and if it was a painting would be worth a fortune, you could do a limited edition print off this. Superb find, capture and great texture, a very interesting shot. Same as PJ though, nice to look at the picture not too sure of the real thing. Bravo!!!!!

yes! Monet's Water Lilies, I agree...well I'm a great fan of organic decay, because it's nothing but life in 'other' forms, and it's incredibly vibrant & powerful. A wonderful shot, very active, and it could be so many things in addition to wood, it shows how broad decay really is. One of the signs that one is a true photographer is that they see so many worlds in a single location: To many, this would be a 'mere garden', but to you, it's a whole universe. I love your love of vision, and this is a wonderful shot...

There have been references already made to Monet's water lillies and I completely agree with that, but there is an element to this image that also reminds me of something Japanese. There is a vibrant and impressionistic quality to this that works perfectly. I love this piece!

Dang, I'd pay for that piece of old plywood. Beautiful what has grown upon it and made it a work of art.
