Description

The tropical climate plays havoc with anything man-made. This building is an example if maintenance is not kept up. Somewhere in Singapore. This picture was taken in january 1996 and later scanned. Thanks for viewing and commenting on my uploads, Sig... As usual I am behind on my comments but I will try to catch up. I am retired, but I don't know where the time goes.

No one expects to do maintenance on their sheetmetal heating ducts. The problem is they were taken from a Northern clime where they were probably indoors and stuck on the outside of this building. One has to redesign for the tropics maybe with porcelainized granite exterior like pots and pans. Stainless at first would seem to expensive. The plaster of course is always needing paint where whitewash only lasts a year.

Another very familiar shot; Mexico has places like this all over. The wood just turns to compost!!

Sig, I think the lesson here is that in the end, the natural world will outdo the technology that we puny mortals use to attempt to control nature. At least, I hope nature wins! Awesome photo and great perspective!

It's not happening only where's tropical climate, but everywhere in the world if they don't do the right maintenance. I saw that kind of degradation in eastern Europe, as well as in big cities as Detroit or Chicago. Great shot, thanks for sharing!

Tropical climates are killer. The dampness and the mold take everything eventually. This is a wonderful reminder of what nature can do if you can't stand up to her.

Interesting capture. We have a problem with rust here in Hawaii. I can understand the decay if not well kept. Aloha
