Description

Since the release of Baz's film "Australia" starring Nicole and Hugh.....thought I would show you a small town close by where the movie was shot. Ravenswood, is a gold mining town, still active but greatly historic, it's like stepping back in time when you explore this place, from the old hotels, like you might have seen in one of my previous uploads, with the old timber furnishings in it, to the windmills and old churches...harsh, dry but a magical place!

Nice to see it's a God fearing community Sue, I like the look of that church. A fantastic vista, ZOOM is a must for this one, I wouldn't mind living here myself, it wouldn't do for Pauline mind, but I would just love it. Superb capture and presentation. Bravo!!!!!5+++++

Mining communities are like no other. This has a close-knit feel to it and a no-nonsense appeal. Great shot.

Awesome capture. Wonder why the church is built up off the ground, as if anticipating high waters .. not likely here. I love the sense of community, but yet individuality. The town is spread out, as if each home wants a certain amount of privacy.

Like this photo..my sister owns a house at Ravenswood..great place..this brings back so many memories..we used to spend many a long weekend or holidays at Ravenswood..pig hunting..mustering..or just sitting back outside the old hut (no electricity) by the campfire and enjoying each others company..listening to the dingos or seeing their shadows just out at the edges of the fires glow...and this photo shows the area beautifuly...Hugs..K
