I want to thank everyone who commented and fav'd my last image. They mean so much to me and I enjoy reading them. :o)
In the forest there is an elf named Lucretia the Leaf Keeper. She is a very determined and fastidious little elf...so I am told. :o) She goes through the Forest zapping the leaves of autumn into those beautiful colors we enjoy so much. She starts just before sundown when the evening mist slowly moves along the Forest floor and continues through the night, zapping left and right, up and down. If she sees anything, and I mean anything that doesn't fit into her color palette, it will be zapped a bright yellow or red or orange or brown or gold.
If you go into the Forest just before sundown, you might get a glimpse of her darting through the trees, but I doubt it, she move too quickly. Though I am told, you may hear the rustle of leaves, but then it could just be a mouse or chipmunk making it's way home for the night. But when you wake in the morning you will see her artistic endeavors of the night...and you thought it was Jack Frost who turned the leaves colors or those silly scientists who say it's actually the sun that does it.....nope, it's Lucretia the Leaf Keeper...or so I am told. :o)
Wishing everyone a Happy and safe Thanksgiving. Remember, things may look bleak this coming holiday season, but we really do have things to be thankful for. :o)

Oh my, you should have seen what Lucretia did out at the Hollow! It was just breath taking, I knew all along it was a woman's magic touch that created all that beauty! She even comes into town and works her magic! All the woods critters love to watch her at work if they can stay awake. Oh my goodness .. do I see Squirrel here too? Efron's Squirrel? I've wondered where he wandered off to! Does Efron know Squirrel is here?

Great story - I looked at the title and picture first - I thought it was a girl going through the forrest tree triming (notice the tree behind her is missing leaves) She is looking at a pretty one and a fox is standing guard asking her not to cut his beautiful tree... after all this went through my mind, I read your story - Oops! LOL
