ABOUT JAMES LYONS
Like most other artists I have been involved with creating art in one form or another for most of my life.
My mother got me started at a very young age when she taught me how to draw small airplanes dropping bombs on people(that should have been a clue!)
After a long stint in the Marine Corps that included combat in Operation Desert Storm, I went back to my art and started anew.
Needless to say as the years passed by my work improved. In my artistic pursuit I have worn many different hats. I have done both mechanical and architectural drafting, sculpture, both acrylic and oil painting, watercolor and now, finally, I have entered the magical realm of painting with pixels!
I have had a lot of encouragement along the way and I sincerely appreciate all the help, be it a kind word or tip on how to do something better or the support that I have from family and friends!
A larger body of my work can be found here: The Art of James Lyons
My biography wouldn't be complete without mentioning some of my artistic influences, in no particular order they would be: Larry Elmore, Toxicangel, Ravenheart, Royo, Todd Lockwood, Matt Stawicki, Nene Thomas & Clyde Caldwell

Beautiful!! One of your best aviation pictures in my opinion! Extremely realistic scene with great lighting and atmosphere. Great attention to detail.

Nice job. Where's my raincoat?

Good atmosphere, in more ways than one. The 109 is grounded, unable to rise to combat the storm and lightning in the skies headed its way. Maybe I read too much into this if I look at it too long. Great render.

Superior render. Nice bump maps on the buildings but the plane is superb - like the grimey, weathered look - Excellent!
