Description
Tonight we meet another of the Fae Valley Faes - Sarina.
Me: Hello Sarina
Sarina: Hiya, everybody! How are you doing?
Me: Well I'm doing okay. How are you?
Sarina: I'm doing quite well thank you.
Me: would you like to tell us a little about yourself?
Sarina: Sure! I'm Sarina Brightwing and I'm 75 human years old, but to the rest of the fae, I'm still a young fae, just barely out of my teens. I've been chosen, along with Aiko, Zlata and Bambi to teach the human girl, Corinda Wallac to ways of the Seelie Fae.
Me: And how's that coming along?
Sarina: I'm not sure yet. First we've got to get Corinda to accept the fact that she is going to be with us and that she is going to learn our ways, whether she likes it or not.
Me: It sounds like you've got your work cut out for you then.
Sarina: Yes, and first on the things she's got to learn is the history of the pact and then we teach her some of our gifts.
Me: If you could, would you tell me a little about the history of the pact?
Sarina: I don't know all of the history, just what I was taught as a child. Nehthia, our elder fae and lore-mistress knows the full story, but she only tells that story in the ancient Sylvan tongue and not too many of us speak it. But I can tell you what I know, would that help?
Me: Why, yes it would! Please continue if you would.
Sarina: Okay! About 260 years ago, the fae and the humans lived in and about Fae Valley. We knew of each other but pretty much stayed away from each other. That is until the Fae of the UnSeelie Court decided that Fae Valley and its surrounds would be perfect for them. They led a coordinated attack on both the fae and the humans in order to either kill them or drive them away from the valley.
Me: That sounds rather harsh.
Sarina: Yes, it was! During one of the battles, the humans and the our faes banded together and between them, they were able to destroy most of the evil fae and drive away the rest of them. It was decided afterwards that we should share our knowledge to protect both realms from any future attacks. So a pact was made between the Fae of Fae Valley and the humans that every 50 years or so, we would send one of the fae to live with the humans for two years and in turn one human would live with us.
Me: This sounds like a very interesting pact.
Sarina: It is! It works out very well for both sides as we, the fae, learn about the new things the humans have developed and of course, the humans get a refresher course in the magic that we know.
Me: Have there been any problems with the UnSeelie Court since that last encounter?
Sarina: Not that I know of, but then, I'm still quite young and I'm not privy to everything that goes on. Nehthia is the one to ask about that.
Me: Well, thank you very much, Sarina. I'll let you go now to tend to Bambi and Corinda.
Sarina: Okay! You have a great day! Bye-bye!
Me: Bye-bye, Sarina!
Well there you go folks, a brief history of the pact. As soon as we can get a full translation of the story that Nehthia knows, we'll post it here.
