Description

I've tried to render Veronica Lake earlier...but with no real luck. So this time I decided to paint her instead. And this took a lot longer than the Obama portrait I posted the other day. This one took 16 hours to finish, mainly because of the hair. And it was because of the hair I made it. It's practise ;) The original was in black and white, which is why her hair color is a tad too dark...I didn't realize exactly how light blond/redish her hair was before I found a color piccie of her. So I'm aware of that. The hair on the left side is improvised. On the photo I used as a reference her hair was stuck between her shoulder and whatever she's leaning against, so I had to redo that bit entirely. And yep, her face is suppose to look as if one side is about to fall down to the floor ;) She's raising her left eyebrow :p Thank you for your commments and all the favorites on my obama painting. It is most appreciated :D And thanks for peeking in ;) PS. Since Jill mentioned it in the comments here and to make clear that this is not a re-coloured photo, there's two jpg's from the process here and here ;) The first one I've just finished the base for the face and the colours on the hair...and in the second picture I had spent another 8 hours shaping the hair.

Hmm, as she is the female lead in my all time fav film "Sullivans' Travels" I'm looking very critically at this one - I think her eyes are to asymmetrical, if one blocks one side of the face or 'tother you may see what I see. She was a beauty, no doubt.
