Description
This observation point for Glacier Perito Moreno is located at latitude S 50 deg 28 min 11 sec, and longitude W 73 deg 02 min 08 sec in Santa Cruz Province, Patagonia, Argentina. The glacier is part of a much larger icefield, actually the largest collection of glaciers and icefields outside the polar regions. There are larger glaciers which are not easily accessible. It was very windy that day and the low clouds changed constantly. The snowline wasn't much higher than my position and the wind pushed the rain under my windbreaker. Yet there were some flowers right next to the walkways. After all, it was just about the beginning of summer down there. And standing there and watching this icefield, there were constant loud cracks and other noises the moving ice was making.
This picture was taken on 19 December 2003.
