Description

This is my rendition of the planet Neptune as seen from the surface of Triton. The moon in its highly skewed orbit would be just crossing the planet’s equator (for lack of better artistic acuity on my part to show it otherwise). We see a pair of icy nitrogen geyser jets, (discovered by Voyager 2) with one in the distance, its plume carried away by the upper winds. Triton is extremely cold, with the average temperature hovering around –390 F. Under that condition, water ice becomes hard as steel. Even gases such as nitrogen and methane turn to snow. Stars, plumes, and Neptune postworked in. Terragen 0.943 foreground. Thanks for looking in!

Excellent render - great detail and explanation. Perhaps it's a little too bright for that part of the solar system?

I think you've found your forte with these illustrations - and the whole solar system to play with as well. See you on Oberon.

Looking for a flashlight for your Quaoar Pics :) Great work. I am not sure if i like the look of the distant plume. The angel is imho to close to 90° and/or it should extend farther in the wind direction... must be a hydrogen wind btw :)
