I never really got the effect I was looking for. I think the idea is worthwhile, though. Comments or suggestions?

Very interesting... and this is NOT what you were going for??? I like the almost oriental delicacy of it, and the white plumes in the center look like swans splashing. This looks like the picture to go with a legend...
