It can't be easy making 37 surface layers look like 2 or 3; but that's what you've done here. The whole point of adding more surface layers is to give the terrain more diversity in texture: you know, different colours and roughness/smoothness for the soil, grass, rock, etc. Perhaps you should revisit the Planetside website and download some tutorials; and practice, practice, practice.
